According to the Academy of Sciences, work
is currently underway to create a pond on an area of 50 sotik in the buffer
zone of the Tashkent Botanical Garden.
It was noted that this area is not part of
the Botanical Garden’s collection sites. The area mainly contains wild plants,
including blackberries, reeds, and other types of vegetation.
According to the Academy of Sciences,
there are no trees or shrubs belonging to the Botanical Garden’s scientific
collection in the area where the pond is being created.
The work is being carried out together
with environmental specialists. Compliance with environmental requirements and
the protection of existing green areas are being monitored.
The main purpose of creating the pond is
to develop an ecosystem of algae, coastal trees, and shrubs in the Botanical
Garden, study it, and develop relevant scientific recommendations.
The pond is also expected to help maintain
a stable microclimate within the garden.
The Academy of Sciences called on media
representatives and social media users to rely only on reliable and official
sources and not to spread unverified information.
