Ahead of
the new academic year, the Traffic Management Center carried out a set of
measures to improve road safety near schools. Road markings at pedestrian
crossings have been updated, a technical inspection of traffic light units has
been carried out, and their operating modes have been adjusted to match the
current traffic conditions.
In the
capital, more than 24,000 scheduled trips are carried out daily on 170 bus routes.
If during the summer period the average number of bus schedules was 1,622, then
with the start of the new school year their number increased to 1,707.
During peak
hours, the intervals between trains on the metro lines are also reduced. On the
Chilanzar line, they are 1.5–2 minutes, on the Uzbekistan
line — 3–3.5 minutes, on the Yunusabad line — 4–4.5
minutes, and on the above‑ground ring line — 7–8 minutes.
Of the 14
new train sets scheduled for delivery this year, 11 have already been put into
operation and are running on metro lines. Three more sets are planned to be
launched in the near future.
The Central
Operational Department called on drivers and parents to exercise extra caution
near educational institutions.
“Dear
drivers and parents! Reduce your speed near schools and yield the right of way
to children at pedestrian crossings.” Do not occupy bus stops, do not stop in a
way that hinders traffic near educational institutions and on pedestrian paths,
and do not drive into lanes designated for public transport.
If
possible, use public transport. This will help reduce the load on the streets,
ensure the stable operation of public transport, and reduce congestion near
schools.
