During the
meeting, issues of research activities in the field of agriculture, breeding
and seed production, the introduction of modern agricultural technologies, as
well as the development of cooperation between scientific institutions of the
two countries were discussed.
It was
noted that the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus was established in 1929
and is one of the leading state scientific organizations of the country. The
Academy conducts important research in the field of agriculture, including crop
breeding, seed production, potato growing, animal husbandry, improvement of
agricultural machinery, as well as conservation of plant genetic resources.
During the
meeting, special attention was paid to the activities of the Scientific and
Practical Center of Agriculture of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus
in the city of Zhodino, which is one of the promising partners for Uzbekistan.
The center is engaged in crop breeding, the production of elite seeds, the
study of plant genetic resources and the development of modern agricultural
technologies.
High-yielding
varieties created by Belarusian scientists, resource-saving technologies,
precision farming systems, automated machinery and digital solutions contribute
to improving agricultural efficiency. These developments make it possible to
reduce production costs and increase yields.
One of the
practical results of scientific cooperation between the countries was the visit
of representatives of the Scientific Research Institute of Plant Genetic
Resources and the National Genbank of Uzbekistan to this center in Belarus in
August 2024, as well as the signing of an agreement on international
cooperation in the field of collection, study, conservation and use of plant
genetic resources.
Following
the meeting, the parties agreed to continue cooperation to strengthen the
integration of science and practice in agriculture, exchange best practices and
introduce innovative developments in the industry.
