This was announced by the Ministry of Energy.
The project is being implemented in Nurabad district jointly with the Saudi company ACWA Power. It includes the construction of a solar photovoltaic plant with a capacity of 1,000 MW, an electricity storage system with a capacity of 1,336 MWh, as well as new 500 and 220 kV power transmission lines.
One of the key objects of the project will be a 350-kilometer transmission line from Nurabad district to the Khalka substation in Tashkent region. The line will run through the territories of Samarkand, Jizzakh, Syrdarya and Tashkent regions.
Currently, work has been completed on the installation of foundations for power transmission towers and their installation has begun.
For the first time in Central Asia, double-chain 500 kV poles of a new design are used during the construction of the line. They are specially designed, and the technical solutions have been tested by the Indian company Larsen & Toubro.
In addition, another 220 kV power transmission line with a length of 150 kilometers is being built as part of the project. To date, the work on its construction has been completed by 50 percent. The construction of this line is scheduled to be fully completed in May 2027.
Thus, the total length of the power transmission lines to be built under the project will be 500 kilometers.
The construction of the 500 kV Nurabad—Tashkent Khalka transmission line is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2028.
The Ministry of Energy noted that the new lines will integrate the solar power plant and energy storage system under construction in Nurabad into the country's unified energy system.
In addition, the project will expand the possibilities of electricity transmission from the new generating capacities of the Central region to Tashkent, the Tashkent region and the valleys, which should increase the stability and reliability of electricity supply to these territories.
