The research is being conducted in October of this year by the institute’s researchers A. Kholmatov and T. Ruziboev, in accordance with the 2026 field research plan of the Samarkand Institute of Archaeology named after Yahyo Gulyamov.
During the field research, petroglyphs drawn with natural ochre pigment were discovered on the walls and ceilings of rock shelters in the Egrijarsay, Khojasay (Badimin), Galajinsay, and Sumbulsay areas belonging to the Oqchobsay neighborhood citizens' assembly. According to preliminary estimations, these images may date back to the Mesolithic and Neolithic periods.
