The
dialogue between the team led by TİTCK President Hüseyin Çelik and the
delegation from Uzbekistan involved employees of the Agency for the Development
of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry, as well as members of the Appeal
Council for the Review of Reference Prices under the Agency — responsible
representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economy and Finance,
and the Committee for the Development of Competition and the Protection of
Consumer Rights.
During the
meeting, there was an exchange of experience on issues related to the
regulation of the pharmaceutical industry in Uzbekistan and Turkey, in
particular, on the procedure for forming and reviewing reference prices for
medicinal products.
The
mechanisms for establishing reference prices, reviewing drug prices, handling
appeals and petitions regarding pricing issues, organizing the activities of
the Appeals Council, as well as the impact of pricing policy on the
availability of medicines and the population’s access to them were also
discussed.
Following
the meeting, an exchange of views took place on improving the processes for
establishing and reviewing reference prices, studying best practices, and
further developing cooperation between the relevant organizations of Uzbekistan
and Turkey in the pharmaceutical industry.
This
meeting became an important practical dialogue aimed at effectively using
international experience in regulating the prices of medicines and improving
the system of reference prices.
