The Center for Economic Research and Reforms regularly analyzes the dynamics of activity in the automotive market of Uzbekistan. The review covers the main segments of the car market and regional changes.

By the end of August, sales of all types of vehicles (primary, secondary and electric vehicles) exceeded 79 thousand units, which is almost the same as last month.

The situation on the passenger car market

In August, passenger car sales totaled 62.5 thousand units, an increase of 2.2% compared to the previous month.

Regional dynamics

During the month, sales of motor vehicles increased in 9 of the 14 regions of the republic. The largest growth was observed in Bukhara (19.1%), Tashkent (11.9%) and Khorezm regions (10.8%).

The largest decrease in activity compared to the previous month was noted in the city of Tashkent (-10.1%), Andijan (-2.7%) and Ferghana regions (-2.1%).

The primary passenger car market

The sales volume of new passenger cars increased by 20.5% over the month and reached 30.6 thousand units. The main contribution to the growth was provided by domestic cars, the sales of which increased by almost 25% and amounted to 25.3 thousand units.

Sales of new foreign-made cars amounted to 5.3 thousand units, which is 7% higher than the level of the previous month.

The secondary market of passenger cars

During the month, sales of supported passenger cars decreased by 10.8% and amounted to almost 32 thousand units.

The situation in the electric vehicle market

In August, sales of electric vehicles in the primary and secondary markets amounted to 9.2 thousand units, which corresponds to the level of the previous month.

An increase in activity was noted in most regions of the republic. The largest number of electric vehicles sold was recorded in Tashkent (6.3 thousand), Ferghana (662 units) and Tashkent regions (455 units).

Sales of electric vehicles remain highly concentrated in Tashkent. The capital accounted for 68.5% of the total market volume.

At the same time, sales of electric vehicles increased by 44.5% compared to the same period last year.
