It is noted that climate change and urbanization processes lead to the fact that extreme heat is becoming one of the serious threats to public health. In such conditions, an increase in morbidity and mortality is recorded, which is of concern to specialists.

According to WHO, over the past four years in the European region, more than 200,000 people have died as a result of the effects of the heat wave. The highest mortality rates were recorded in Italy, Spain, Germany and Greece.

The updated recommendations pay special attention to the development of early warning systems about heat, timely informing vulnerable groups of the population, as well as the expansion of green areas and water bodies in cities.

It is also emphasized that during the period of abnormal heat, special care should be taken by people over 65 years of age, as well as patients with chronic diseases.
