In
accordance with the resolution, the General Assembly declared the years
2027–2036 as the International Decade of Peacebuilding for Future Generations.
The
primary objective of this decade is to strengthen peace, promote dialogue and
reconciliation, and support cooperation between generations, including
children, youth, and the elderly, while ensuring that the needs and interests
of future generations are taken into account in political decision-making
processes.
The
resolution highly commends the efforts of member states, leaders, and nations
that have contributed to strengthening peace, reconciliation, dialogue, and
national unity, Kazinform reported.
Furthermore,
the document reaffirms the goals and principles of the UN Charter, including
the commitment "to save succeeding generations from the scourge of
war" and to settle disputes by peaceful means.
The
resolution also welcomes the commitments made at the 2024 Summit of the Future,
as well as the adoption of the "Pact for the Future," in which member
states pledged to strengthen cooperation to protect the interests of future
generations.
In
addition, the document recognizes the positive changes observed in Central Asia
and welcomes the efforts of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan aimed at the
peaceful resolution of border issues and the signing of relevant agreements.
