In recent
years, under the leadership of our President, special attention has been paid
to developing national space technologies, expanding satellite programs, and
strengthening international space cooperation. The "Samarkand-2028"
mission stands as a practical result of this policy and an important milestone
demonstrating Uzbekistan's potential in space technology and artificial
intelligence on the international stage.
The
"Samarkand-2028" satellite is a practical outcome of cooperation
within the framework of a strategic memorandum signed between the
"Uzbekcosmos" Agency and STAR.VISION. In accordance with the
memorandum, this hyperspectral satellite to be launched into space by the
Chinese side was named "Samarkand-2028". This name was chosen in
honor of the decision adopted at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC)
in Sydney, Australia, to hold the 2028 congress in the city of Samarkand.
Within the
project, specialists from the "Uzbekcosmos" Agency developed a
special artificial intelligence module for the satellite's onboard system. This
module allows hyperspectral data to be processed directly in orbit,
significantly increasing the efficiency of remote sensing of the Earth's
surface. The acquired data is planned to be utilized in agriculture, ecology,
natural resource monitoring, and other fields.
Currently,
the rocket has been placed on board the launch vessel and is heading towards
the launch area. All preparatory work is proceeding according to the
established schedule.
