The meeting
was the result of a three-day visit by the Islamic Development Bank mission to
Uzbekistan. During the visit, representatives of the IDB got acquainted with
the ongoing projects and initiatives, investment opportunities of the country,
as well as existing cooperation programs.
During the
talks, the parties discussed the current state of joint projects and prospects
for further cooperation.
It is noted
that the portfolio of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IDB group is one
of the most dynamically developing in the region and exceeds 5 billion US
dollars. Currently, about 20 new projects worth about $3 billion are being
considered in priority areas, including transport, energy, water resources,
healthcare, education and agriculture.
Following
the meeting, a Program of promising investment projects was signed, including
an agreed list of initiatives (pipeline of projects), which will form the basis
for further cooperation strategies between the parties.
