The meeting was attended by representatives of the state bodies of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan responsible for the development of tourism, as well as representatives of the CIS Executive Committee and the Secretariat of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States.

The agenda included issues of trends and promising projects for the development of tourism in the CIS member states, the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Cooperation between the CIS member states in the field of tourism for 2021-2030, statistical accounting and forecasting of tourist flows, training, as well as further expansion of cooperation in the field of tourism.

Special attention was paid at the meeting to improving the mechanisms for the regular exchange of statistical and analytical data on mutual tourist flows. In particular, the possibilities of establishing information exchange between the authorized bodies of the CIS member states in the field of tourism, as well as the integration of information resources of national digital platforms, were discussed.

The meeting also discussed separately the activities of the "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage in the city of Samarkand as the basic organization of the CIS member states in the field of tourism.

The Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sanjar Tajiyev, made a report on this issue. He informed about the current activities of the university, its international cooperation, educational and scientific programs, as well as ongoing work to develop cooperation between relevant higher educational institutions of the CIS member states.

One of the important issues on the agenda was the determination of the next presidency of the Council. In accordance with the established principle of rotation, the chairmanship of the Council of Tourism of the CIS member States for the period 2026-2027 passed to the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Chairman of the Tourism Committee Abdulaziz Akkulov was appointed Chairman of the Council. It was also decided to hold a regular meeting of the Council in 2027 in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During Uzbekistan's presidency of the Council, special attention will be paid to the development of cross-border tourism, improving the exchange of tourism statistics and analytical data, training qualified personnel in the field of tourism, strengthening cooperation between educational institutions, as well as developing joint tourist routes.

Cooperation in these areas will contribute to the further expansion of practical ties in the field of tourism within the CIS, the exchange of experience and the promotion of new joint initiatives.
