Currently, 1,927 buses operate on 169 routes in
the city, making an average of 23,000 trips per day and serving 1.4 million passengers. However,
several systemic challenges remain. During peak hours, wait times for buses can
reach 35–40 minutes, and
intervals on certain routes have increased. Dedicated bus lanes currently
account for only 18.5% of city
roads. Furthermore, over 700 bus stops lack structures, and more than 800 are
not equipped with necessary facilities.
To address these issues,
the following practical measures have been established:
240 new buses will be
purchased, and 16 new routes will be established, increasing the number of
daily trips by 2,000. 56 km of dedicated
bus lanes and 16.2 km of BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) lanes will be constructed.
Over 600 cameras will be installed to monitor dedicated lanes. 1,116 existing
stops will be reconstructed, and 70 new ones will be built.545
"smart" traffic lights will be installed for efficient traffic
management.
Officials emphasize that
these measures aim to increase the attractiveness of public transport, provide
convenience for residents, and reduce traffic congestion in the capital.
