During the
meeting, issues of further development of cooperation between the SCO countries
in the energy sector, improving energy efficiency, widespread adoption of
resource-saving technologies, the use of renewable energy sources, as well as
personnel training were discussed.
Speaking at
the meeting, the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan highlighted
the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat
Mirziyoyev to create an Energy Consortium of the SCO member States, put forward
at the Summit of the SCO Council of Heads of State in Tianjin.
As part of
this initiative, a draft Concept for the creation of an Energy Consortium of
the SCO member states was presented.
It was
noted that the consortium would become an open and practice-oriented mechanism
for coordinating joint initiatives, strengthening energy security and
developing cooperation in the energy sector.
Following
the discussion, an agreement was reached on the joint elaboration and
preparation of this document.
In
addition, at the initiative of the Kyrgyz side, it was proposed to create a
Regional center in Bishkek for the introduction of energy-efficient and
resource-saving technologies for the SCO states.
The
participants paid special attention to the effective use of the region's hydropower
potential, ensuring energy security and promoting sustainable energy
development.
